Book Review: "Timeless Echos" #RRBC Book of the Month Author, the mystical, Balroop Singh

Welcome to "Forrest takes a Journey" Blog page, I hope you enjoy this review of fellow #RRBC poet and writer, one of the recipients of RRBC Book of the Month for May, Balroop Singh's collection titled, "Timeless Echoes"

About the Author:

Balroop Singh, an educationalist, a poet and an author always had a passion for writing. She would jot down her reflections on a piece of paper and forget about them till each drawer of her home started overflowing with poetic reminders, popping out at will! The world of her imagination has a queer connection with realism. She could envision the images of her own poetry while teaching the poems. Her dreams saw the light of the day when she published her first poetry book: 'Sublime Shadows Of Life.' She has always lived through her heart. She is a great nature lover; she loves to watch birds flying home. The sunsets allure her with their varied hues that they lend to the sky. She can spend endless hours listening to the rustling of leaves and the sound of waterfalls. She lives in San Ramon California.

From Her Blog/Website:

"A former teacher and an educationalist, a passionate reader, a published writer, I have always lived through my heart. My students have been my true inspiration and I have learnt many lessons of life while teaching them and interacting with them through discussions. Youngsters are like a breath of fresh air and you can speak your mind and heart spontaneously in their company. Their idealism and innocence always gave a new hope to me, strengthening my belief that our future is in safe hands.

I am a great nature lover, I love to watch birds flying home. The sunsets allure me with their varied hues that they lend to the sky. I can spend endless hours listening to the rustling leaves and the sound of waterfalls. The moonlight streaming through my garden, the flowers, the meadows, the butterflies cast a spell on me. Like the busy modern people, competing with each other at a breathtaking speed, I have also spent the best part of my life in pursuing all those chores and am so glad to have all the time for myself now.

I have all those blessings that a person can crave for. I love to travel, read good books and poetry. My friends have always called me optimistic though I have my share of murky times. I like to analyze people which has become a habit now, may be because I have spent a lot of time in the company of students and parents whose observations helped my imaginative aspect.

This blog is all about people, their emotions, how emotions mold personalities and what is our role in all this. I am here to share my thoughts and experiences in my pursuit of happiness."

About the Book (From Amazon):

Certain desires and thoughts remain within our heart, we can’t express them, we wait for the right time, which never comes till they make inroads out of our most guarded fortresses to spill on to the pages of our choice. This collection is an echo of that love, which remained obscure, those yearnings that were suppressed, the regrets that we refuse to acknowledge. Many poems seem personal because they are written in first person but they have been inspired from the people around me – friends and acquaintances who shared their stories with me.

Some secrets have to remain buried because they are ours We do share them but only with the stars The tears that guarded them were as precious as flowers Soothing like balm on festering scars.

While there are no boxes for grief and joy, some persons in our life are more closely associated with these emotions. Their separation shatters us, their memories echo, we grieve but life does not stagnate for anyone…it is more like a river that flows despite the boulders. When imagination and inspiration try to offer solace, poetry that you are about to read springs forth.

My Review:

As a poet, when I look for a collection of poetry to read on my leisure, I look for works that emotionally connect with the reader. I tend to have a "empathetic ability" to feel what writers are conveying in their works. Let's face it, poetry has a reputation of being convoluted and hard to follow for some. Well written poetic works make a personal connection with the reader. It takes them on a journey of tears, joy, love, and heartbreak. A reader can feel the writers pain, their desires, their hopes for society, and their passion. that being said, I am humbled by saying Balroop Singh did exactly that and more.

Balroop's "Timeless Echoes" took me on a journey of timeless empathy and intuitive guidance. Her blank verse style catches the hearts, minds, and soul of the reader. She is undoubtedly one of the most talented poets published today. Her gifts are encased throughout her poetry in her book. Her soliloquy style throughout her collection allows you to see her vulnerability, her struggles, and her strength. I have just recently had the opportunity of getting to know this author, however, this collection gives her readers a even more open book into her heart and connection with the earth. When one can feel energy through the pages of a writer's mind, they have fully achieved excellence. For that, I am awarding Balroop Singh's "Timeless Echoes." a big 5-Star rating!

Congratulations again on being one of this months #RRBC's Books of the Month Authors. You truly deserve that recognition, and much more.
